The architecture in BA was very European. At times we felt like we were standing in Paris. There were huge statues and monuments everywhere. We were surprised to see that the president’s house is pink!
We visited the BA Zoo. It was interesting because you buy food when you first get there and you can pretty much feed any animal in the zoo. Grace had a great time feeding all the animals, but her favorite were the deer. We also visited an animal park, Temaiken, about 30 minutes from the city. This park was amazing. The animals that live here are very lucky!
We took Grace to a wonderful Children’s Museum. We’ve been to several in the US and this one was one of the best we’ve ever been to. We were impressed with all the things they had for kids to do in BA. It’s a very “kid-friendly” city.
We visited the famous Recoleta Cemetery, which kind of gave Grace the creeps. We also visited a couple of beautiful churches.
On Sundays there is a HUGE market that spans for blocks and blocks. There you can get any souvenir you can possibly imagine. We were also able to check out some Tango dancers while we were there.
We had some time before we had to catch our flight back to Rio so we took a walk through the Botanical Gardens. It was fairly uneventful except for the amount of cats we saw. We counted at least 17 on our stroll!
